3. Does the cost of the conference include accommodations? Where can I find details of location and accommodation options?

The workshop fee does not include accommodations. The workshop sessions will be held at the recently renovated, Chicago Marriott Oak Brook, located in Oak Brook, Illinois. A limited block of rooms has been reserved at Oak Brook Marriott for April 18 – 20, 2010 at a discounted rate of $114 for single, double or king rooms. In order to book a room for the conference, please visit the Travel/Hotel page and click on the reservations link.  You will see a special code “uicuica” appears in the right hand column of Marriott reservation page.  This code provides you with the $114 negotiated rate.  If you call the Marriott general reservation line (1-800-228-9290) to make reservations, you must tell them you are with UIC/Sloan in order to receive the discount.

4. What is blended learning?

Blended learning is the combination of multiple approaches to learning. Blended learning can be accomplished through the use of 'blended' virtual and physical resources. A typical example of this is a combination of technology-based materials and face-to-face sessions used together to deliver instruction. The Sloan Consortium Blended Learning Conference and Workshop is a national conference dedicated solely to the research, pedagogy and implementation of blended learning.

Expert presenters will share their experiences with blended learning; discuss where blended learning is headed in coming years; and discover how blended learning can increase access at your institution.

5. Will there be exhibits at the event? If so, what opportunities are available for exhibitors?

Space is available for exhibitors; an exhibit prospectus will be available in mid-January on this website.  There are opportunities for 10 table top exhibits, plus sponsorships of the conference as well as special event sponsorships (luncheon, welcome reception, etc.)  Questions on exhibit and sponsorship opportunities may be addressed to Christine Hinkley at chinkley@sloanconsortium.org

6. Am I able to provide printed materials to be included in participant packages?

Only items that are presented at the conference will be included in the workshop materials.  Additionally, conference exhibitors and sponsors may provide 1 item of printed materials in participant bags.
